Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

06 Dec

Okay, I was on Facebook this morning and someone, (HI DENICE), got a chat started about cookie recipes.  I mentioned my favorite is a sugar cookie with cream cheese recipe.  I was asked to share.  So, I thought I’d share it with as many people as I could in one writing!  lol

So, without further ado…here is the last sugar cookie recipe you’ll ever need!

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

First the boring stuff:  Calories 88…..%Calories/fat 47%…..Carbs 10.5 grams…..Cholest 13 mgrams…..Protein 1.2 grames…..Fat 4.7 grams…..Fiber 23 grams…..Sodium 42 grams

Now the good stuff:  Ingredients:

4 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp nutmet

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup shortening

1 (8oz) package cream cheese

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 egg

1/2 tsp vanilla

PREPERATION:

Combine flour, baking powder, salt and nutmet…set aside.  Cream together butter and shortening; add cream cheese and sugar, beating until fluffy.  Add egg and vanilla; beat well.  Gradually beat in flour mixture.  Divide dough in half.  Cover and chill 1 to 2 hours.  On lightly floured surface, roll dough 1/8 inch thick (my preference but I leave it a bit thicker because I like the cookies thicker and for some reason they are almost cake like…soft and yummy).  Cut with cookie cutters.  Place on ungreased baking sheet.  Bake at 375 for 7-9 minutes.  Cool on wire rack and frost…if you have any left.  LOL…they are delish plan or decorated.

Hope you enjoy this recipe….they are awesome!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Question, Christine? Do you have to refrigerate these cookies after they’re baked?

I don’t. I just store them in a Tupperware container and truthfully they don’t seem to stay around long 🙂

LOL…just read my post (which I should’ve done before subbing it) and notice I have an issue with typing NUTMEG….just to clarify…nutmet is the term we use in Michigan for Nutmeg……….lmbo!!!

Fab, can’t wait to try it. Although I’m sure you’re holding out on a key ingredient so that no-one will be able to bake them just like you do lololol.

LOL….too funny! I thought you only did that to daughter in laws or something…so that they could never achieve mom’s cooking….hahahaha

They do sound yummy, Christine, but here’s the thing. I baked Christmas cookies once, took them from the oven, and threw them away, trays and all. Now I only dust my oven when a frozen pizza is needed. I do, however, take deliveries. 😉

LOL…I have a friend that has her kitchen roped off as a museum…so don’t feel bad 🙂 If you can get away with delivery, I’m all for it. You have to do what works for you!
