Take it away Mira…
Hey guys, thank you so much for having me over today. Okay so I’m Mira Lyn Kelly, author of a bunch of sexy, flirty and fun contemporary romances including TOUCH AND GO (Dare to Love #2, releasing Feb 17th) and holy cow, did this book ever beg, plead and bully me to get written!
So one of the most fun things about being a writer is you never have to worry about the voices in your head being a bad thing. Sure they may well be sign of mental illness, but so long as the voices are talking to each other and not trying to coerce you to take over the convenience store on the corner…it’s all good. In fact, it’s only when the characters in my head don’t talk I get really worried. Fortunately, not the case with Sam and Ava. Not even a little bit.
Honestly from my first glimmer of an idea about this romantically dysfunctional group of tight knit friends that makes up the Dare to Love crew, Ava and Sam have been throwing elbows, trying to line-cut and get to the page first. And normally, I make an effort not to argue with my made up people—especially when they’re as determined as these two—but in this case I KNEW that Maggie and Tyler (TRUTH OR DARE) needed to find their happily ever after first. And foolishly, I believed Ava and Sam would be cool about the friends they love so dearly taking book 1.
Now, in Ava’s defense, she’s been waiting twenty years for her shot with Sam, playing like friends was enough so she wouldn’t jeopardize the most important relationship in her life. And when she caught wind of what I planning for her, especially that bit about her panties in the stairwell, well, she got a little intense about making her desires known. Like basically pulling my hair from the inside when I didn’t stop to take notes on her brilliant idea for a scene I wouldn’t be writing for at least another three months. And Sam, you’d think easy going, laid back Sam would be better, but NO.
There he was, standing too close to Ava, murmuring all kinds of depraved ideas into her ear and giving her that sizzly look that even had me succumbing to a bit of breathless laughter—and fine, begging him to dish the deets.
So needless to say, when it was time to give these two their day—they hit the page running! Here’s a little sneak peek
From TOUCH & GO…
Ava was giving it her college best, really she was, but there was no stopping the freak-out in progress.
Sam was kissing her.
His lips were on hers in a soft press that, based on its closed-mouth properties alone, should have been benign. But this was Sam. And he was in strict violation of a no-fly zone their friendship never breached. Sure, she and Sam were touchy-feely friends of the highest order. He always had an arm around her. Her legs draped over his. Something. She was a cuddler, so contact in and of itself was no big thing. But there were lines friends didn’t cross. Lines that started above the knee and ended bellow the belly button. Panty lines. Bust lines. And most importantly, lip lines. Which meant the intimacy of that taboo contact, even as chaste as it was—well, it was crossing wires Ava had spent twenty years trying to keep straight.
So the freak-out?
Yeah, it was on.
Because now how was she supposed to look at Sam’s hands without thinking of them warm at the sides of her face as he lowered his mouth to hers? How was she going to look into his eyes without seeing that last instant when they dropped to her lips? And how the heck was she supposed to look at that gorgeous, easy smile of his and hide the fact that after twenty years of wondering what his kiss would taste like, she wished the only one they were likely to share through the course of their entire lives had lasted just a little longer, gone a bit deeper, been a smidge more real?
Seriously, I loved writing these two, and hope you’ll give them a read 🙂
Touch & Go
Dare to Love # 2
By: Mira Lyn Kelly
Releasing February 17th, 2015
USA Today bestselling author Mira Lyn Kelly cranks up the heat for two lifelong friends whose most secret longings come true in every delectable way.
Vivacious and successful, Ava Meyers is living her dream life, except for one thing: Ever since childhood, she’s been in love with her best friend . . . and she’s never admitted it. Back then, Sam Farrow was a damaged young man with a tough past. Now he’s supremely confident, super-sexy, and totally untouchable—until the night when Sam pretends to be Ava’s boyfriend to save her from some unwanted attention. In a moment of weakness, Ava finds out that a long friendship is no match for blistering sexual chemistry.
After years of denying his own feelings, Sam finds that one amazing night with Ava isn’t enough to chase away all the pent-up fantasies. So he proposes they spend a few weeks driving each other wild, exhausting their every desire, and then return to their perfect platonic relationship like nothing ever happened. But Sam’s plan has one fatal flaw: the part where they give each other up. Because the more they let go of their inhibitions, the more they’re tempted to never go back.
