INTERVIEW with Sara Jane Stone author of To Tempt a Seal ~ Giveaway

03 Jul

Today I’d like to welcome Sara Jane Stone to the blog. Sara has agreed to take the hot seat and answer a few questions so we can get to know her a little better.

Afterward, check out her release To Tempt A Seal, Book One in the Sin City Seal’s series. And don’t forget to enter her awesome giveaway. The link is at the end of the post 🙂

Let’s get going…

Tell us about yourself in three sentences 🙂

SJS: I’m a stay-at-mom of two who spends most of her time lost in imaginary worlds. My husband is my real-life hero (even through he’s not a SEAL :)). We currently live in New York City and dream about moving to the country.

What color is your kitchen?

SJS: Light blue mostly.

What’s your favorite food to cook?

SJS: Mushroom Risotto using my dad’s recipe.

What are your writing goals for 2015?

SJS: More SEALs! I’m having so much fun writing this series. I’m crazy about the characters and can’t wait to spend more time with them. And I’m also working on a spin-off series linked to my Independence Falls books 🙂

I love choosing my character names. How did you go about choosing your hero and heroine’s names?

SJS: I worked closely with my editor to select Cade’s name. I knew I wanted a “c” name for this hero, but we tossed a lot of ideas back and forth after I wrote the first draft. As for the heroine, she simply walked into my imagination and introduced herself.

How come you write the genre you do?

SJS: I write what I love to read! I’m passionate about military stories and I love erotic romance, so the combination made sense to me.

What’s the first sentence in your book?

SJS: Dresses like this lead to fantasy sex in a Vegas hotel room.

What did your heroine think the first time she saw/met your hero?

SJS: U.S. Navy SEAL Cade Daniels is better than chocolate.

Describe your heroine in five words.

SJS: A woman finding her way.

Do you feel your writing is most productive in the morning, afternoon, evening…or anytime?

SJS: Usually the morning, but it depends on where I am in a story. I love to spend full days when I can.

Do you have a writing ritual—for example, do you wear a lucky pair of socks, have to have a certain drink, light a candle, or only sit in a special chair?

SJS: When I go away for a twenty-four hour writing retreat, I bring my favorite sweatpants. They’re falling apart, but I love them. I start the day with coffee and around lunchtime I order my favorite foods from a local vegan café. I eat and write for the rest of the day. These retreats are like heaven. No internet. No distractions. And the best vegan cookies in NYC 🙂

What makes your book stand out from other books in the same genre?

SJS: I write a very sexy, very emotional story, but there are also some very funny moments. My books tend to be fast-paced. And honestly, I think my voice sets them apart from others in the genre. But I think that is true for most writers.

What’s your favorite part of any book to write…beginning, middle, or the end?

SJS: I love writing the first few chapters and the dark moment.

Care to share with us what you have coming up?

SJS: I’ve written the first draft of To Dare a SEAL, #2 in the Sin City SEALs series and I can’t wait to revise it! But while I wait, I’m writing the first draft of A Wild Ride to Forever, the first book in my Forever Wild trilogy. This story features a side character, a former Marine, from my Independence Falls series, and a heroine I’ve been wanting to write for a long, long time 🙂

For the first time in her life, social worker Lucia Lewis is ready to live. And the masquerade ball in Las Vegas is just the place to find a ridiculously hot guy to complete her wicked to-do list. The only rule? Her elegant Venetian mask—which conceals the scars that have always held her back from the life she deserves—stays on.
Navy SEAL Cade Daniels heads to Vegas on a mission to keep his best friend’s little sister out of trouble. Except the woman he’s sent to find is all heat and flame…and perfectly capable of handling herself. And him. But the moment Lucia’s mask slips, the need to heal her, body and soul, is complete and absolute temptation.
But revealing himself could cost him the one thing he isn’t willing to risk…his heart.

“Turn around,” he murmured as he moved behind her. His fingers toyed with the straps of her red dress and lowered them down her shoulders. “And tell me what you see.”

“People.” She gasped as he drew her dress down to her waist, revealing her black lace bra to the night air. Her nipples pebbled, begging for his touch. “Everywhere.”

Her breasts were left wanting as his hand moved to her legs and lifted her skirt until it bunched at her waist. A thrill ran through her. All those people below, and yet she was on the verge of losing herself in this moment. Being here, with him, felt wild and wanton, so far removed from the walls holding her trapped in her life back home.

“When you come…” His fingers teased the edge of her lace thong, and she spread her legs, opening for him. “When you scream my name, will they hear you?”

“No,” she gasped. His finger slipped beneath the edge of her underwear. “Maybe. I don’t care.”

“Does this fit your fantasy? Is this what you want?” he demanded. “Tell me.”

She turned to face him and looped her arms around his neck. His hand moved over her, and his fingers ran down her backside, touching, exploring. Her hips rocked against him, demanding friction.

“I want you,” she said. “Make me scream your name. Over and over. I don’t care if they hear. I want the fantasy. Please.”
