BOOK BLAST ~ Jackson Stiles : Road to Redemption by Jo Richardson ~ #giveaway

A lost soul and a seeker of truth
travel down the road to redemption
and discover more than they bargained for.

JACKSON STILES: ROAD TO REDEMPTION
Road to Redemption #1
Jo Richardson
Released Sept 21st, 2016
Jackson Stiles is used to having bad
days, but they’ve been especially bad since a certain tabloid reporter seems to
have it out for him.
Emma Green doesn’t mean any harm.
She simply sees it as her duty to report the misdeeds of certain Private
Detectives who charge too much in a society where people need more superheroes
and less villains; something even Jackson has convinced himself he deserves to
be called, deep in his gut.
When the two of them realize they’re
investigating the same suspicious circumstances, Emma makes Jackson an offer he
only wishes he could refuse. But can the man who trusts no one allow the one
woman he can’t stand help him get to the bottom of a murder he feels
responsible for?
Exposed and unsure, these two
unexpected allies come together to unmask the mysteries cloaked in plain sight
while uncovering secrets within each other. A lost soul and a seeker of truth
travel down the road to redemption and discover more than they bargained for.

EXCERPT

“Morning, Stiles.” The five-and-a-half-foot brunette that likes to make my life miserable is easily five-eight, maybe even five-nine, in the heels she’s got on today. Combined with the dark blue power suit she’s wearing, she comes off as all business despite the fact that she doesn’t make eye contact with me. She’s too busy scrolling through a bunch of bullshit on her smartphone.

I growl a response so it comes out as more of a warning than a greeting. Is it a bit much for this time of day? Maybe. Considering our history, I’m not exactly worried about her impression of me, though.

Emma Green is the latest and greatest “crime” reporter for our friendly neighborhood tabloid. And I use the term “reporter” loosely, by the way. Very loosely.

Doesn’t care about getting the story right in certain cases, if ya know what I mean, loosely.

Her name’s been on nearly every article the Redemption Chronicle has put out since she arrived from somewhere down in Florida. She shows up at most crime scenes, from burglaries to homicides, and has very much become a royal pain in my…

“You’re late, by the way. They were just talking about you.” She mutters and points, blindly, down the hall as she steps into the elevator. Which is my cue to get the fuck out.

My one and only cigarette calls to me from the front pocket of my button down. Thank God I remembered it. But quite frankly, I don’t have the energy to pull it out. Not that I wouldn’t get arrested if I did, but . . .

“And you look like hell.” She’s full of compliments today, I see.

“Fuck you very much, Green.” Not that I’m complaining. It makes it easy to respond to her in like fashion. And bonus: I’m feeling pretty good about getting the last word in on this battle of the banter, as the doors close but then they open again.

“Maybe you shouldn’t stay up so late playing around with your buddies over at the police department.” I look back to see her foot blocking the sensors that would normally allow the doors to close. She still can’t be bothered to look up. She’s too busy burying her nose into the iPhone.

Let’s be real here. Flirting is not her forte.

“I appreciate that enlightening bit of useless advice, Green.” Despite my attempt to be nice sarcasm spills out of every word. It’s only when she pulls her foot all the way in and the doors are halfway shut that I ask myself─ how did she know I was downtown last night?

Emerald eyes peer up at me as the question enters my mind. And I swear, she’s fucking smirking.

Between the pleasant smile and the way her expression lights up like she’s about to pounce, I’m not sure what the hell to think. I haven’t seen her smile like that since the day I briefly met her on the scene of a break-in I was hired to investigate. First thing I noticed was her smile. She seemed…new.

The next thing I noticed was her eyes.

Deep green. The grab-a-hold-of-you-and-don’t-let-go kind that make you wanna know everything that’s going on behind them.

And don’t even get me started on her ass. It begs for mercy because she, no doubt, runs it every day, then follows up with a pint of fat free yogurt and a jug of water.

Not that I’ve thought about it.

But I digress.

She was polite enough. Or so I thought. Asked me if I had any insider’s information on what had gone down that day. It’s not like I was rude or anything. All I did was tell her I wasn’t doing her fucking job for her.

I paid the price for that comment in the article she ran the next day. The headline read, “Local P.I. steals more from family than burglar.” I won’t bother you with the details, but let’s just say, the article was less about the break-in and more about what an asshole I am.

I mean, what the fuck?

I can assure anyone who has the balls to ask, I charge less than ninety percent of the dicks working the tri-state area. Just ask the bill collectors.

The asshole thing is still up for debate…in most circles.

Lesson learned here? Never trust a woman with eyes that stunning or an ass that tight.

Basically, I fucking hate her.

INTERVIEW with Tamara Gill author of Only an Earl Will Do ~ #Giveaway

Welcome to the blog! Please help me welcome Tamara Gill, author of Only an Earl Will Do. If you haven’t had a chance to read any of Tamara’s books you should run and grab a copy. You’ll enjoy her writing style!

Tamara has agreed to answer a few questions so we can get to know her a little better. Afterward check out the blurb and excerpt for Only an Earl Will Do, and then enter her awesome giveaway!

Let’s get started …

Describe yourself in tweet form. That’s right, you get 140 characters 🙂

Author of Regency, historical & time travel romance. Mum and Aussie.

Great job, you got in some great details 🙂 What’s your favorite room in your house?

My office.

Tell us the last thing you cooked?

Dinner last night – steak and vegetables. Sounds quite boring when you write it down.

Nothing boring about steak 🙂 What was the first word that came to mind when you saw the cover for ONLY AN EARL WILL DO?

Love!!!! I really loved it once it was done. Just beautiful.

It is a fabulous cover! How do you feel about writing love scenes?

I like writing them, but the trick is to keep them different from all the others you’ve written before. That’s the hard part. There are only so many things people can do. *wink*

lol…I feel the same. I love naming my characters. How did you go about choosing the hero and heroine in ONLY AN EARL WILL DO?

I looked up names used in the Regency era and picked two that went together and that I liked. I have more trouble coming up with titles than first names.

Would you like to tell us what you’re working on now?

I’m working on a Scottish time travel romance series, book one TO CONQUER A SCOT is out on submission now, and book two, TO SAVE A SAVAGE SCOT, is coming along nicely. I’m also working on a Regency romance series proposal.

I love a good time travel. I can’t wait to read them 🙂

RANDOM FUN : Finish this sentence:

When I was young I wanted to grow up to be: Archaeologist

The next book on my tbr pile is: I’m trying to finish Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series.

I will never: Steal.

My favorite television show is: Outlander and Game of Thrones. These are equal in my estimation.

I wish I could: Get over my fear of flying.

Chocolate: Always

Henry is determined to make the only woman who captured his heart his wife.

ONLY AN EARL WILL DO
To Marry a Rogue #1
Tamara Gill
Releasing July 25th, 2016
Entangled Select Historical

The reigning queen of London
society, Lady Elizabeth Worthingham, has her future set out for her. Marry
well, and marry without love. An easy promise to make and one she owed her
family after her near ruinous past that threatened them all. And the rakish
scoundrel Henry Andrews, Earl of Muir whose inability to act a gentleman when
she needed one most would one day pay for his treachery.
Returning to England after three
years abroad, Henry is determined to make the only woman who captured his heart
his wife. But the icy reception he receives from Elizabeth is colder than his
home in the Scottish highlands. As past hurts surface and deception runs as
thick as blood, so too does a love that will overcome all obstacles, unless a
nameless foe, determined with his own path, gets his way and their love never
sees the light of day…

EXCERPT

Elizabeth hid a repulsed shudder over Lord Riddledale, who stood pompous and proud across the floor, the ever-present scowl on his face no surprise. No doubt her stepping out with another gentleman other than himself had put him out of countenance. She turned back to her sister. “I cannot summon any remorse for annoying Riddledale. As for Lord Dean, I’ll be sorry to hurt him, but no, I will not marry him no matter how much his heart breaks over my decision.”

“Could your feelings change in time, do you believe?” Victoria asked.

“No.”

“No?”

Elizabeth shook her head. “No.”

“Why?”

She swallowed the familiar lump which formed in her throat every time she thought of him, the man she refused to name, even in her own thoughts. “I’m not the loving kind. I don’t believe it’s healthy to rely on such feeble unstable emotions when someone is entering the marriage state. Men and their need to be adored, looked up to in awe, can go hang. Lord Newland’s name protects me now. I have no need to marry again.”

Victoria threw her a dubious look. “I believe there is nothing purer and good than love, especially if you are fortunate enough to have it in a marriage.” Her sister sighed, the sound tinged with sadness. “You promised Papa you would try.”

“I am well aware of what I promised Papa, but he did not stipulate marriage is what I should try. I’m friendly and affable. That is enough.”

.99 CENT SALE BLITZ ~ Of Flame and Promise by Cecy Robson

OF FLAME AND PROMISE
Weird Girls #6
Cecy Robson
Released on January 12, 2016
 Loveswept

Perfect for fans of Keri Arthur and Bella Forrest, this short novel kicks off a sizzling new series in the award-winning Weird Girls saga as Celia’s sister Taran fights to have it all: independence, hot romance, and enough firepower to torch an army of blood-thirsty supernaturals.

Cursed by a spell meant to destroy them, Taran Wird and her sisters instead developed unique magical talents. With the power of fire and lightning literally at her fingertips, Taran doesn’t fear much. Demons, vamps, whatever—bring ’em on! Only one thing terrifies her: commitment.

Taran is crazy about her boyfriend, Gemini, a sexy were with the incredible ability to split into two separate wolves. But after watching her sister go through heartbreak with the pack’s Alpha, Taran knows not to count on happily ever after—despite Gemini’s desire to claim her as his mate. Reluctantly, she agrees to meet his very traditional and conservative parents. Taran’s a badass with a mouth to match, and Gemini loves her for it. She’s just not positive these attributes will please Mom and Dad.

Unsurprisingly, every attempt by Taran to bond with Gemini’s folks proves disastrous. But in the end, Taran finds that winning them over means unleashing her powers . . . and proving that this foul-mouthed fire-starter is a force to be reckoned with.

RELEASE DAY BLAST ~ Call Me, Maybe by Ellie Cahill ~ GIVEAWAY

Enter to Win a
$25.00 Amazon eGift Card

CALL ME, MAYBE
Ellie Cahill
Releasing on February 9, 2016
Loveswept

Ellie Cahill is definitely one to watch!” raves bestselling author Cora Carmack, and this steamy, upbeat modern romance about connecting in all the best ways proves it once again.

Clementine Daly knows she’s the black sheep. Her wealthy, powerful family has watched her very closely since she almost got caught in an
embarrassing scandal a few years ago. So when Clementine’s sent on a mission to live up to the Daly name, politely declining isn’t an option. Of course, the last thing she does before boarding the plane is to grab a stranger’s phone by mistake—leaving the hunky journalist with her phone. Soon his sexy voice is on the line, but he doesn’t know her real name, or her famous pedigree—which is just the way Clementine likes it.

Despite all the hassles, Justin Mueller is intrigued to realize that the beautiful brown-eyed girl he met at the airport is suddenly at his fingertips. They agree to exchange phones when they’re both back in town, but after a week of flirty texts and wonderfully intimate conversations, Justin
doesn’t want to let her go. The only problem? It turns out that Clemetine has been lying to him about, well, everything. Except for the one thing two people can’t fake, the only thing that matters: The heat between them is for real.

EXCERPT

I pushed my fingers through my hair. My heart was full of a feeling I’d had waiting for my grandmother to come out of her hip replacement surgery three years ago. Which was ridiculous considering my phone could be replaced for a few hundred dollars. I could replace both of ours with a few phone calls and a swipe of my American Express.

“I’m really sorry,” I repeated.

“Unless you did this on purpose, you can stop apologizing. We just have to deal with this.”

“Right.” I bit my lip.

“Who are you?” he asked.

My nerves jangled with familiar anxiety. But he had my phone. There was nothing I could do about it if he decided to play detective. Oh god, I’d worked so hard at keeping it clean. Had I missed anything? Anything that he could use? Finally, I said, “Clementine.”

“Clementine?” he repeated with a tone of total disbelief. It was a typical reaction.

“Yes.”

“I’m Justin. I’d say nice to meet you, but . . .”

“Yeah. Well, thanks for being cool about this, Justin.”

“No problem. Do you mind if I give your number to a few people?”

It took me a moment to process what he meant. He still needed a phone, and for now, mine was all he had.

“No, that’s fine. Go ahead. I don’t really think I’ll be getting many calls. Everyone knows I’m out of town.”

“You can give my number to people if you need to.”

“Same to you.”

“Okay . . .” He faded, seeming uncertain. “I guess I’ll just . . . get in touch with you if you get any messages.”

“Um . . . I guess . . . I’ll talk to you later then.”

I disconnected, finding my brother staring at me. “Was he upset?” he asked.

“Yeah, but at least he wasn’t a dick about it.”

“Why don’t you just have them both replaced? Tell him to go pick up a new phone at the nearest store.”

“I thought of that, but maybe he doesn’t have the cash to drop on a new one.”

“So pay for it.”

“People are weird about stuff like that. Besides, do you really think I should point out the fact that he has the personal phone numbers of some of the wealthiest people in the country? We have no clue who this guy is.”

He made a face, but he knew I was right.

This was so so bad. My grandparents were going to kill me. “Oh my god, Honor, you have to call Grandma right away!”

He didn’t even hesitate, just reached for his phone and dialed. He knew how it was. If she didn’t hear that we were safe and sound very soon, she was going to start calling me. And the last thing the poor schmuck whose day I’d already ruined needed was to have Miriam Schulman-Daly hitting redial until she got a response.

“Don’t tell her a stranger has it! Tell her I left it at home!” I added to Honor in a rush, tugging on his arm to make sure he was paying attention.

He waved me off, but I thought I could trust him to give me this small bit of cover. While I waited for Honor to explain the situation, the phone buzzed with a new text message from my line.

Sorry if I was a jerk on the phone. I’m frustrated.

I replied, You weren’t. No apology necessary.

We’re stuck with each other for now. An apology is definitely necessary.

I’m the one who should be giving it. My stupid brother grabbed the wrong phone.

All right, so we’re mutually sorry and we can blame your brother, agreed?

I smiled. Who was this guy?

Agreed.
