Here’s a little taste of what the book is all about…

600dpibookcover (1)

What’s a little engagement between friends?

Omar Esterly is married to his job. But when Omar sets his sights on a potential, family-oriented client, his confirmed bachelorhood becomes a problem. Fortunately, his friend and employee, Devi Boss, has the perfect plan…

Okay, so it wasn’t exactly Devi’s plan to become her friend’s fake fiancée. Lies aren’t her style. However, Omar offers her a big, beautiful raise—enough to track down the missing father she’s never known—and Devi reluctantly agrees to the whole engagement hoax…

This was supposed to be a no-strings-attached win-win for both Devi and Omar, but when they cross the line between friendship and…well, something more, Devi realizes she’s made a huge mistake that just might cost her both job and friend—falling for her fiancé.

“You’re game for anything, right?”

Devi compressed her lips and studied Omar through a narrow gaze, taking in the way his overly bright eyes concentrated on her face as if memorizing every pore. Her gaze traveled south to the non-existent rise and fall of his chest and how he pushed his suit jacket aside as he placed his hands low on his hips. He’d stopped breathing while he waited for her reply. That made her more nervous than anything. “Normally I am game for anything, but considering the man asking the question, I’m a little nervous.” She licked her lips.

Omar shook his head, swallowing her hands in the warmth of his. “No. This is a great idea. I can’t believe I didn’t see it before.”

“I’ll hold back on saying I’m glad I could help until I know what you’ve got pinging around your brain.” She tried to pull free of his grip, but he only grasped her fingers tighter. Her inner voice told her whatever plan he’d cooked up included her and she wouldn’t be thrilled with the role.

“Bartow wants a family-first firm. He wants a planner who is married, blah, blah blah.” He dismissed his unfinished words with the thrust of his chin.

Devi nodded, her mouth going dry. Was he planning to hire a wife, or about to propose?

“I might not be married, but what if I were engaged?”

She didn’t want to jump to conclusions about the proposal so she pasted on a tight smile. “Do you have a serious girlfriend hidden away I don’t know about?” The thought unsettled her, but she pushed aside the heaviness in her gut. Omar and relationships mixed like fire and ice. Not that women didn’t find him attractive and vice versa, but his true love would always be work. Most sane women wanted something more than a workaholic commitment-phobe.

He shook his head a bit too vigorously. “No. No.” His grip tightened, and she flexed her fingers so he’d loosen his hold. “Hear me out before you shoot me down.”

“I’m more curious than ever.” Again, she threw sand over that niggling feeling in her belly. She never jumped to conclusions. Living by the seat of your pants didn’t allow it, but…

Why start now? She rolled her shoulders in an effort to relax. Omar pulled her off to the side and out of the crowd moving past them on the sidewalk. His hands shook with excitement, and he swallowed hard before clearing his throat. Always calm and collected, his buildup unsettled Devi, and she tugged one hand from his grip and pressed it against the gurgle growing in her stomach.

“How about we announce our engagement? I could pull in some favors and have it in the press Monday morning. That’d still give Bartow enough time to invite us to the meet and greet. And—”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” Devi’s stomach did a nosedive, and she yanked her other hand from his death grip and stepped back. She twisted one of the bangle bracelets on her wrist. “Our engagement? First off, I didn’t even know we were dating. And second, I am not going to help you get ahead by lying.”

So…I read this book

So, every once in awhile, if I read a book that I particularly enjoyed I’m going to post my review and the book information so if any of my blog readers are interested they can check it out too.

I’m not a professional reviewer or anything like that. I’m choosing to share some of the books I’ve enjoyed on my site. I read just about every genre, so I’ll be all over the board 🙂 I’ve always been an avid reader, but won’t be sharing every book I read on the site, only the ones that feel my blog readers would enjoy too.

Today, I’d like to share Best Man For Hire by Tawna Fenske. This is a cute, light hearted contemporary read from the Lovestruck line with Entangled Publishing. The best part as that this book is on sale for .99. I’m not sure for how much longer…so don’t wait to grab a copy 🙂

Best Man for Hire was the first book I opened to read in 2015. Let’s just say I’m beyond happy to start out the New Year with Tawna Fenske’s latest release. I’m definitely a new fan. I really enjoyed her writing style. Lots of humor and several laugh out loud moments. The dialogue was quick, witty, charming, and fun-fun-fun.

I loved Anna Keebler and how she turned an average career of a wedding planner into something a little more wild by taking on clients who wanted something different. A wedding in the nude, a paint ball wedding, a red riding hood theme…that’s just a sampling of some of the weddings she orchestrated. Although she doesn’t feel marriage is for her because of some issues in her past, she enjoys giving others there happily ever after. I liked that she spoke her mind and wasn’t afraid to be herself.

Grant Patton comes from a family of military men and women. He’s not only the perfect gentlemen, but basically a perfect guy. Yep, he comes to the aid of old ladies and saves their cats from a tree, he can cook, is a artist of sorts, and keeps up on his housework…oh, and he always manages to say and do the right things. To bad something from his past haunts him. You guessed it, like Anna, he doesn’t feel a happily ever after with a woman of his dreams is in his life plan. Good thing he has a strong woman in Anna, because she’s going to help him see that everyone makes mistakes…even her. But, you won’t get any spoilers from me because their journey to discovering what they really want makes for a wonderful, fast paced read.

This book was chock full of great scenes and awesome secondary characters. Although this is part of a series, I read out of order and started with this book, but will have to remedy that and dive into the other books in the series. Each book can be read as a stand alone, so don’t worry if you want to read out of order as well 🙂 Some of the characters from those books appear in this story…and they were as much fun as the primary characters.

So, if you are looking for a light hearted, fun read with a strong dose of humor….grab this book today!!!

So perfect he’s almost too good to be true…

Anna Keebler makes a living being unconventional. A wedding planner who specializes in more…unusual ceremonies, Anna’s client list includes everything from nudists to paintballers to Little Red Riding Hood enthusiasts. So when her photographer up and quits during a wedding blitz in Hawaii, Anna makes an unconventional decision. She hires a hot Marine to be her new photographer.

Little does she know, Grant Patton is the best man in one of her weddings. He’s so perfect he’s practically a Boy Scout—if Boy Scouts were big, ripped Marines with gorgeous gray eyes, and good at, oh, everything. Especially sex. In fact, his only flaw seems to be that he hates marriage as much as she does. But Anna suspects the sexy Boy Scout routine is a cover, and if he wants this thing between them to be about more than sex, Grant must reveal the dark past he’s fought so hard to hide…

So…I read this book

Happy Sunday!

Like so many others, I’m trying to balance many things in my life. I’ve found over the last few years, especially since I’ve started to write, that I’ve allowed certain indulgences of mine to fall to the side. My “me” time is even more limited 🙂 I’m not complaining at all, but I’ve decided it’s time for me to at least enjoy my love of reading again. Even if it takes me a week to read a book instead of a day or a few hours like it used to, I’m going to go for it. lol

So, every once in awhile, if I read a book that I particularly enjoyed I’m going to post my review and the book information so if any of my blog readers are interested they can check it out too.

I’m not a professional reviewer or anything like that. I’m choosing to share some of the books I’ve enjoyed on my site. I read just about every genre, so I’ll be all over the board 🙂 And in fair warning, I have to let you know I’m on a huge reading binge right now, so I might be posting several books in the upcoming weeks.

Today, I’d like to share Letters at Christmas, an historical novella written by Amber Lin that is available for only .99.

This is the first book I’ve read by author Amber Lin. I was first drawn into the story by the beautiful beginning to the 1st chapter, and happy to find each chapter began with a little snippet even better than the chapter before. Very beautifully written pieces. As I read, it was easy to detect what each of those snippets were, and that made me enjoy them more.

Ms. Lin has a beautiful way of writing. She draws you into the scene with all five senses. Her descriptions are so well written, and her love scenes are sweet and erotic at the same time.

I really liked Sidony. She had a teasing quality to the way she handled Hale, even though she was angry over the fact that he’d stayed away longer than promised, and that he didn’t write as he’d promised. And Hale, let’s just say he is one of the sweetest, sexiest heroes. His depth of feeling for Sidony was well done. The love that this pair felt for each other was so strong, and you could feel it in every scene they shared. I’ve always been a sucker for a good reunion type story and I wasn’t disappointed.

And even though this story has Christmas in the title, it’s one of those sweet stories that can be read any time of the year. I really enjoyed the Christmas songs littered throughout the story as well—I wanted to break out the Christmas music and join the festivities.

This novella was packed with everything needed to help you connect with the characters, get to know them and their reasons for traveling the paths they did, and to root for them to work things out. I enjoyed this quick read—it was the perfect way to wind down after a busy day.

London, 1815 Three London Seasons. Three Christmases come and gone. Jilted Sidony Harbeck is done waiting for the inconstant Captain Hale Martin to return. Despite their whispered adolescent promises, he never wrote her a single letter. Now the scoundrel has returned, professing his love and a thoughtless bet to woo her, but she only wants him to suffer. After three years at sea, Hale finally has the means to marry his best friend’s sister and the love of his life. But he only has three days to convince her of his devotion because he stupidly proposes a wager – he’ll convince Sidony to marry him by Christmas or he’ll leave her alone forever. When Hale sets out to seduce her, the stakes are raised by a passion so intense that Sidony must risk her heart no matter the odds.
