Six Sentence Sunday 10/14/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week marks my LUCKY 13th snippet that I’m sharing from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss which is available in print and ebook from The Wild Rose Press.

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

QUICK SET UP: YAY, this week I didn’t jump ahead. I’m taking this up right where we left off last week. Scroll down if you need a reminder or just trust me when I tell you that Farah and Keller had an argument and she came to the office bearing gifts of donuts and coffee.  So, here we are, still in Keller’s POV.

“Great minds think alike.” He scooted his chair back to reach into the top drawer of his desk and pulled out a small gold box. The name of a well-known candy company printed in bold black letters on the lid.

Her face lit up like the Vegas strip at midnight. “You know my weakness.”

“I’ll remember that because I have a feeling this won’t be the last time we’ll have to make peace.”

So sweet…they both thought enough of the other to make an apology, with a gift no less!  Don’t you just love those moments?

I hope you enjoyed these six.  For more great snippets please go to SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY.  Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

Happy Reading!

Farah Smith is on a mission: secure the funds for her twin sister’s surgery.  She’ll do whatever it takes to succeed.  Even if that means putting her values aside to work for a man she finds morally bankrupt.  But when the real Farah meets her new boss, she wonders if she’ll be able to resist his sexy advances long enough to help her sister.

From the blonde wig, to the stilettos strapped around her ankles, Farah’s a clone of Keller Donovan’s harem of past assistants.  She can’t believe she’s let herself be talked into the disguise, let alone working for the man planning to demolish the hospital her sister so desperately needs, but the salary he offers is the only way she’ll be able to afford her sister’s surgery.  The moment Farah meets Keller she realizes her most daunting task isn’t typing, spreadsheets or organizing travel arrangements, but fighting the growing attraction toward a man whose ruthlessness is legendary in the boardroom as well as the bedroom.

Determined not to end up in a disastrous marriage like his divorced parents, Keller believes all relationships should have a shelf life of sixth months or less.  But when he meets Farah, all bets are off.  He not only wants her to continue as his personal assistant, but his own private bed warmer.  Unfortunately, his offer of an affair doesn’t sit well with her fairytale dreams or the strangled hold gripping his heart.

Six Sentence Sunday 10/7/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week marks the 12th snippet I’m sharing from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss which is available in print and ebook from The Wild Rose Press.

~~Proud moment alert~~ I have to sneak in this wonderful review I got just last night from Romancing the Book. This made my weekend 🙂

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

QUICK SET UP: Again I’ve jumped ahead. Farah had the weekend to dwell on their fight and today we’re in Keller’s POV as Farah enters his office bearing an apologetic gift.

Farah made her way across the room with a rhythmic clack of heels on hardwood, holding a cup emblazoned with the name of his favorite coffee shop and a small white bag from the bakery next door to the office building.

She pressed her bright red lips together, rubbing them back and forth as she neared before delivering him a hesitant smile. She placed both items in her hands above the file he’d been studying.

“I come in peace,” she said, her eyes sparkling.

Something inside him melted. Even though he wouldn’t label her as the type he went for, it grew harder each day to deny something about her attracted him.

Aww, isn’t she nice? I wonder if Keller is going to accept her apology or deliver one of his own. What do you think?

I hope you enjoyed these six.  For more great snippets please go to SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY.  Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

Six Sentence Sunday 9/30/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week I’d like to share my 11th snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss which is available in print and ebook from The Wild Rose Press. I can’t believe it’s been 11 weeks of teasers from this story…time is flying by 🙂

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

QUICK SET UP: Again I’ve jumped ahead.

Farah just had a fight with Keller regarding an uncomplimentary article in a magazine about his plans on demolishing the hospital—but she doesn’t know all the facts and Keller isn’t sharing.  When she emerges from his office still spitting fire, she finds Robin—Keller’s long time receptionist—who is more like a mother figure than an employee. Robin starts off this snippet. She wants to set a few twisted facts straight regarding Keller’s business dealings and what the press has to say about all the people who’ve become ‘jobless’ at his hands.

“Those employees didn’t bother to mention that they were offered several choices, a great severance package, or an option to transfer to another position within Donovan Enterprises. Never mind the fact Keller would help them return to college to start fresh if they wanted.” Each word Robin uttered pierced through Farah with bullet-like accuracy and reduced her to the size of a peanut.

How much more of a wake-up call did she need? What a heel she’d been. For some reason the press had it out for Keller Donovan, and she had fed right into it, like so many others.

Had Farah misjudged Keller from the start? Is an apology in order?

I hope you enjoyed these six.  For more great snippets please go to SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY.  Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

Happy Reading!

Six Sentence Sunday 9/23/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week I’d like to share my 10th snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss which is available in print and ebook from The Wild Rose Press.

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

QUICK SET UP: I jumped ahead several paragraphs from last week when Keller and Farah bumped into each other outside the wig shop and she wasn’t in disguise. Her ex-boyfriend happened on the scene and she had a little bit of comparison time before her ex whisked her away to catch up. Here we are deep in Keller’s thoughts not long after he watched her walk away with the other man, unable to forget or understand his overpowering attraction.

His stomach tightened as he closed his eyes to picture her dark hair in startling contrast to her creamy, flawless skin. The swell of his own body betrayed him as he recalled how her purple sweater caressed the curve of her breasts.

Damn, they’d only spoken for minutes, but her image lay locked in his mind, in vivid detail. Familiar, like they’d met before. But if that were the case, he didn’t believe he would’ve forgotten her.

Hell, he was damn positive he would remember her.

I hope you enjoyed these six.  For more great snippets please go to SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY.  Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

Six Sentence Sunday 9/16/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week I’d like to share my 9th snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss which is available in print and ebook

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

QUICK SET UP: I jumped ahead several paragraphs. Last week Farah had bumped into Keller coming out of a wig shop. She’s not in disguise and trying to keep talking to a minimum because she’s afraid he’ll figure out who she is. Just as she’s wishing the sidewalk would swallow her so she could make an exit, a man from her past appears. Her ex-boyfriend Paul…the man she believes she’s still in love with…here she ends up comparing the two and finds her old flame…well, read on to see 🙂

Although only an inch or so different in height, Keller appeared much larger. His broad shoulders tapered down to lean hips and his thigh muscles pressed against his denim jeans with graceful force. Funny, she’d never considered him an athlete, but seeing him in street clothes it became obvious. Whatever sport he played, he’d excel at.

Whereas Paul had muscles; they were developed by a trainer, three days a week. As for sporting events, he made a better spectator.

Six Sentence Sunday 9/9/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week I’d like to share my 8th snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss which is available in print and ebook 🙂

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

QUICK SET UP: We’re jumping ahead a few chapters. Farah is settling into her new job and even managing to wear her disguise with no more wardrobe malfunctions—for now! Today is her day off, and she’s just finished shopping at the wig store for an accessory and she’s totally out of disguise when all of a sudden…

With a quick glance in each direction of the sidewalk, she waited for an opening then joined the masses. Not slowing her stride she looked down to slide her wallet inside her purse and within seconds came up against something hard. A solid body. Not muscles on muscles, but firm enough that whoever it belonged to either spent time in the gym or worked a physical job.

An automatic apology forming, she looked up only to gulp down her squeal of surprise. A pair of familiar Caribbean blue eyes smiled at her.

Who do you think those eyes belong to?

Six Sentence Sunday 9/2/2012

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week I’d like to share my 7th snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss which released in both ebook and print on Friday, August 24th with The Wild Rose Press.  WHOOT WHOOT!!

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

QUICK SET UP: We’re now in Farah’s pov and she was just shown around the office on her first day by Robin the receptionist. Farah—forgetting for a moment all the deception she’d used to get her new job—was just thinking how lucky she felt to be back in the work force and admiring her new office—with a window to boot…when all of a sudden…

The doors to her boss’s office burst open. A gust of air blew across her face, lifting a tendril of hair from her shoulder to tickle her nose. The boom of Mr. Donovan’s voice chased two harried men in suits from his office. Orders to get the job done, do it right, and make it happen now nipped at their heels.

Farah swallowed the smile she’d worn all morning. Mr. Bossy yelled for Robin, who stepped into his office and discreetly closed the door, and with a quick glance around the deserted room, Farah cleared her throat as a slow burn evaporated all moisture from her tongue.
