Six Sentence Sunday 8/26/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week I’d like to share my 6th snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss which released in both ebook and print on Friday, August 24th with The Wild Rose Press.  WHOOT WHOOT…cue the ballons and streamers and the sexy shirtless men with glistening biceps and rippling abs pouring champagne 🙂

Whew…*fanning myself* Back to reality and controlling the need for a run on sentence! lol

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

QUICK SET UP: We’re still in Keller’s POV and he’s just offered Farah the position of personal assistant and she’s accepted. Farah—in total good employee mode—offers to start the next day. We start out with Keller’s response.

“Take the remainder of the week and get yourself situated then come in fresh Monday morning, seven-thirty.”

When her tongue flicked out to wet her lips, his insides shifted. The sunlight coming through the bank of windows touched the moistness her tongue left behind. He envisioned his thumb tracing the curve of her upper lip before he lowered his head to take a sample. She’d taste like sugar, of that he felt certain. At this point he just wasn’t sure if it’d be imitation or the real thing.

I hope you enjoyed these six.  For more great snippets please go to SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY.  Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

Happy Reading!

BLURB for Two-Timing the Boss:

Farah Smith is on a mission: secure the funds for her twin sister’s surgery.  She’ll do whatever it takes to succeed.  Even if that means putting her values aside to work for a man she finds morally bankrupt.  But when the real Farah meets her new boss, she wonders if she’ll be able to resist his sexy advances long enough to help her sister.

From the blonde wig, to the stilettos strapped around her ankles, Farah’s a clone of Keller Donovan’s harem of past assistants.  She can’t believe she’s let herself be talked into the disguise, let alone working for the man planning to demolish the hospital her sister so desperately needs, but the salary he offers is the only way she’ll be able to afford her sister’s surgery.  The moment Farah meets Keller she realizes her most daunting task isn’t typing, spreadsheets or organizing travel arrangements, but fighting the growing attraction toward a man whose ruthlessness is legendary in the boardroom as well as the bedroom.

Determined not to end up in a disastrous marriage like his divorced parents, Keller believes all relationships should have a shelf life of sixth months or less.  But when he meets Farah, all bets are off.  He not only wants her to continue as his personal assistant, but his own private bed warmer.  Unfortunately, his offer of an affair doesn’t sit well with her fairytale dreams or the strangled hold gripping his heart.

Six Sentence Sunday 8/19/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week I’d like to take up from where I left off last week and share my 5th snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss that officially releases August 24th with The Wild Rose Press.  That’s right…a mere 5 days from today.

I’ll let you in on a not so secret secret…lol, but the print version was released last week and this Friday the ebook will be out. I’m so excited 🙂

I’ve included the blurb at the end of today’s post to give you a better idea of what the story is about.

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

QUICK SET UP: We’re still in Keller’s POV and in the midst of him interviewing Farah. She’s playing it aloof and cool, though sweat dots her brow. This snippet starts out after Keller lets Farah know he spoke to her previous boss who raved about her. He basically wants to know why she didn’t return to her former position since her prior boss said he’d take her back in a heartbeat.

She smiled, but her eyes remained cool. “I appreciate his kindness, but sometimes you can’t go back.”

“Basically he called me a fool if I didn’t hire you.”

Farah arched one fine brow. “He’d be correct.”

Keller laughed outright, he’d always been a closet sci-fi fan and her emotionless expression along with one lifted eyebrow resembled a famous Vulcan. He liked her spunk-logic.

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week I’d like to take up from where I left off last week and share my 4th snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss that officially releases August 24th with The Wild Rose Press.

FUN ALERT! I just found out Two-Timing the Boss was released 2 weeks early in print format (the ebook will still be released on August 24th)…here are the links…I’m so excited!

Now back to the regularly scheduled program…

I’ve included the blurb afterward to give you a better idea of what the story is about.

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

Quick setup:  Farah made her way into Keller Donovan’s office for her interview and had an unlucky mishap in her tower high heels. Before she kissed the floor, Keller caught her and saved her from embarrassment. She’s a little shaken and parts of her disguise aren’t quite secure as they were minutes ago. This snippet takes off from there in Keller’s POV…

“I can’t believe you still want to interview me,” she smiled, a slow parting of her slim, bow shaped lips revealed even white teeth.

He stood, captivated by the curve of her mouth until her smile wavered then disappeared. After giving himself a mental shake, he led her to one of the leather chairs. Instead of taking the seat beside her, or making his way around his desk, he perched on the ornate carved edge before her. Keller rubbed his chin between thumb and forefinger and regarded the latest candidate HR had sent up, a replica of his last three assistants. Either the only qualified graduates applying were tall blue-eyed blondes dressed in wool business suits, or the university on the other side of town was in mass production of administrative clones.

“Tell me why you’d like to work at Donovan Enterprises?”

Six Sentence Sunday 8/5/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  This week I’d like to take up from where I left off last week and share my 3rd snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss that releases August 24th with The Wild Rose Press.

I’ve included the blurb afterward to give you a better idea of what the story is about.

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

Quick set up: Farah Smith is on her way to meet with Keller Donovan for the position of his assistant. Let’s just say she didn’t get the chance to ‘be herself’ on the interview. (and Karah is her twin sister)

Guilt at what she attempted ate at her insides.  Despite being desperate, this went against everything she believed in. Just because her savings account had dropped below three digits, didn’t mean she should resort to disguises and deception to get a job.

But her inner voice niggled until her stomach flipped. She’d allowed herself to be talked into this for more than her bank balance, or lack thereof. Karah needed her help.

Thankful the receptionist led the way; Farah had time to double-check her appearance, for the tenth time in the same amount of minutes. She straightened shoulder length blonde tresses with flat palms, making sure her wig hadn’t shifted. She didn’t need the extra stress of losing her hair during an interview. Just the thought made her smile, until she caught a glimpse of herself in a mirrored wall panel.

Sure, the wig her twin sister Karah had selected changed her hair from auburn to blonde, opaque contacts covered her warm brown eyes, and smoky shadow enhanced the now brilliant blue color outlined by eye-popping black liner, but her lips sealed the deal. They burst with a wet red cherry gloss, becoming the focal point on her pale face.

Six Sentence Sunday 7/22/12

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  I’ve taken the last 2 months off because things have been hectic, but I’m back today to share a snippet from my contemporary romance Two-Timing the Boss that is releasing August 24th with The Wild Rose Press.

I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

A quick set up:  P.A. Farah Smith is on her way to interview with Keller Donovan, owner of lucrative construction company.  She’s willing to do whatever it takes—even if it means working for a morally bankrupt man—if it gives her the funds needed to help her sister.

Farah Smith’s palms pricked with moisture as she followed the trim woman through a set of doors featuring brushed nickel pulls in the shape of the letter D, for Donovan.

After all she’d read about Keller Donovan on the internet and in magazines, it should come as no surprise he’d have door pulls fashioned out of his initials. It’d be more fitting if he had his name spelled out, in gold no less. The man’s reputation for taking what he wanted and doing things his way had become legend. Arrogant—one word that easily summed him up.

With determined, yet shaky hands, Farah wiped their dampness down her gray wool skirt then aligned the side seams with her outer thighs.

Six Sentence Sunday 5/20/2013

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  I love reading comments, so please let me know what you think of my six.

This week my six is again from my debut release from The Wild Rose Press title SOME LIKE IT IN HANDCUFFS…A fun, light-hearted romantic suspense with some humor thrown in.  I’m winding down to my last few weeks of featuring this story because I have another book coming out this summer and I’d like to switch things up to include some snippets from that story titled Two-Timing the Boss.

The snippet below is a continuation from last weeks six…the scene where Judson and Sunny are on the verge of…well, read for yourself 🙂

She looped her fingers into his waistband and

tugged his jeans and boxers down. The shudder of

his skin followed her hands as she worked them

down his legs. In no hurry, she thrilled at how her

touch affected him, letting her fingers worship the

hardened muscles of his thigh. Sunny’s eyes widened

as she exposed his impressive body.

Judson stood before her in nothing but a smile.

He was absolutely magnificent to look at.

I hope you enjoyed these six.  For more great snippets please go to SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY.  Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

Happy Reading!
